Dart coat hooks

Could these dart coat hooks be the very coat hooks that'll  stop coats being thrown over a chair and hung up instead? 

Well they don't promise that but this set of three stainless steel coat hooks with their special wall fixing are quirky enough to make it a possibility.  They're easy  to install too, three steel darts each with a screw instead of a thin tip at the front, and that's it.  You just screw them into the wall and you're ready to hang up your coat. 

Did you hear that, "hang up your coat".  Thanks. 

Garlic rocker.

Garlic is used in lots of recipes today and I must admit I love it.  What I don't like is cleaning my garlic press.  It's really quite fiddly and that puts me off using it.  Many television cooks crush garlic between two spoons or under a knife.  I've tried both methods  but I've never really mastered it and the garlic normally scoots off somewhere still whole!  However I think this nifty Joseph Joseph stainless steel garlic rocker might just do the job without all the bother. They say it crushes garlic easily with a gentle rocking motion and as an added bonus it doubles as stainless steel soap and removes odours when you wash your hands under running water.  Perfect.  It would also make a nice hostess gift. 

Pre Lit Crystal Leaf Tree and a rush.

I know it's a wee while until Christmas but I've just found this amazing Christmas tree which is being sold at John Lewis. If you remember last Christmas it seemed everybody wanted to get their hands on the John Lewis Snowy Paper Christmas Tree but it was out of stock so quickly a lot of us lost it.  Anyway that was last year, a new year dawned (months ago actually) and now they've got this fab-u-lous pre lit crystal leaf tree.  I think it's just beautiful and now I'm kinda glad that I didn't manage to get the Snowy Paper tree from last year because I think I like this better.  Yep, it seems I can be quite fickle about Christmas trees.  However, if you're still hankering after last year's Snowy paper tree then I can tell you it's not in stock... yet... but, the good news is you can pre order it now!  Good luck with whatever tree your hoping to get, just get a move on!

Dandelion stools and a warning.

If you'd like to look at something colourful and bright to banish those Monday blues then cast your eyes over this bunch of Dandelion stools.   The soft seat has a removable cover and the Dandelion head sits on stalks of moulded plywood.  It's bright, modern and would look fabulous anywhere in the home.  Nice eh?   Warning:  Here's the not so nice bit which may bring on those damn Monday blues again...one of these little stools will cost you £235.  Okay, so maybe not the whole bunch then! 

Flock dog from Dwell

If you like dogs you've got to love this flock dog from Dwell.   

He looks so proud and chuffed with himself.  He could be the perfect pet.  He doesn't need a walk, you don't need to feed him, he doesn't make a mess he just wants to hang out in your house and look good.

Antique mercury glass lamp base called Serena

If you're looking for a classic lamp base and don't want anything quirky like say an earthernware dog with a lampshade on its head, then maybe these fabulous handblown mercury glass lamp bases from Pottery Barn will soothe you.   With three lovely designs to choose from you're sure to find one to suit your decor.  These gorgeous lamp bases are set on a flutted brass base and are finished in antique silver and I'll admit that the curvy round one is my particular favourite.  The burlap shades, which I love and are sold separately, give the lamps a lovely clean, contemporary look.  Beautiful don't you think? 

Eiffel Tower Table Lamp

Don't you think the gracious shape of the Eiffel Tower lends itself very well to this fabulous table lamp?  

This quirky but chic table lamp would make a statement in any room and comes complete with an understated black shade. 

It's available from Graham and Green and although resembling the iconic tower it's somewhat smaller at 56cm high. 

The real Eiffel Tower stands at 1,063 feet tall and would turn its nose up at any form of headgear. 

Headlamp, birds and dogs.

You know how sometimes things just shouldn't work but they do?  Things like this Headlamp which is a bit crazy but not really creepy, unlike yesterday's Bebe Doll's Head.  And things like these glazed earthenware dogs and birds with old fashioned silk lampshades on their heads.  Quirky, full of character and somehow so right.  

They're all part of a fabulous lighting collection designed by Atelier Abigail Ahern and available from Rockett St. George.  I adore the bulldog, he looks fed up but totally resigned to wearing the lampshade.   Do you have a favourite?    

 

 

Bebe Doll Head for the brave.

No.  No.  No. 

I know it's nearly Halloween but a vintage style doll's head on a pole, even if it is moulded from aluminium and finished with a handrubbed patina, looks really, really creepy to me. 

I've just managed another peep at this Bebe doll's head and it looks like it could be a lamp!   

Ugh, the thought of the head lighting up is just too creepy for words.
