If we're talking destinations then London's the place that we'll all be heading for on April 29th. Some of the lucky ones will make the journey in person while the rest of us will be glued to the television. It'll be a long day so those of you who make the journey will need a flask of tea and a fold up stool. The rest of us will make ourselves comfortable with the

Even although the sun is streaming through my window and making my own environment brighter just looking at this wallpaper takes me away to more exotic destinations. I can only imagine how it would lift my spirits on a dull, cold day.

With March just about gone and those pesky April showers in the post for us I've been looking for a new umbrella stand. My old umbrella stand is, at the moment, not being used for umbrellas but holds decorative walking sticks. It's definitely not fit for purpose, in fact it's useless because it has no real sides so any wet umbrella just drips on the floor. Also it's brushed stainless steel so it doesn't add colour.
I think my hunt may be over though because I found this fab ceramic Folies-Bergere umbrella stand and it's full of colour, will keep drips inside and those walking sticks will look great in it too.
Hmm, seems a shame to put anything wet in it now.

I'm absolutely loving these unofficial Royal Wedding commemorative plates. There are three quirky plates to choose from and any one of them would make a humorous addition to any street party that you may be planning. Hmm, I don't wish to be a spoil sport but on reflection maybe in Scotland, Ireland and Wales only two of the plates would make it to the table. The Royal Family are British aren't they?
Those of you who read this blog regularly will know that I'm a sucker for twinkly lights. At Christmas and New Year I have them everywhere and I'm always reluctant to put them away, in fact this year I managed to save some and used them to good effect sprinkled through a plant in my livingroom. Once I'd saved one set of lights I was on a mission to save the rest, however I restrained myself when the husband pointed out that whilst he enjoyed the lights during the festive season he had no desire to spend every evening in a twinkly grotto.
I think I might just get away with another set though because this Maroq light garland manages to hide its twinkle behind beautiful silvery lattice-cut metal lanterns in a Moroccan style. I can picture them now around my window, and as they're so pretty, I'm sure the husand's approval won't be necessary!

The lid on my kettle stopped working ages ago but because it still boiled the water perfectly well I just started filling it through the spout. However a few days ago a sinister rattle could be heard just as you were about to pour so it had to go. So the hunt was on for a new kettle.
Stainless steel was out of the question because I'd never be done polishing it so I ended up with a white plastic one with a stainless steel lid. It's a nice kettle but how I wish I'd waited because this fabulous red polka dot kettle would look great in my kitchen and fulfilled all the technical aspects that the husband seemed so keen on. Hmmm, it makes me wonder how long the lid will keep working on the new kettle!
